This was a good read! There were parallels to the lives of any huge family--Quiverfull, multi-generational, etc.. I flashed on Jim-Bob Duggar back in the days of his 14 kids and no tv revenue when the Daddy Golden wonders what to do to support all these kids! I also thought of him when the sisterwives divide up his time [yes, he only has one wife--but four grown daughters who get a say in life these days--and I don't mean anything "sick" here]. I saw the Duggar kids too--probably Jamesy-bug, in poor Rusty who can't even get new underpants and has to go beyond mere begging to get ANYONE'S attention!! This was well written and very believable. The Lonely Polygamist.
This book needs to be read by anyone who has ever tuned in for "17/18/19 Kids and Counting" on TLC. This book tells all the ways Bill Gothard [head of the Duggar's so-called "Homeschool Group"--the Advanced Training Institute/Institute of Basic Life Principles] twists scripture and teaches ideas like his famous "Umbrella of Authority" as Biblical when clearly they are not Biblical in any sense. Similar to the Amway: Cult of Free Enterprise (about Amway/Quixtar), this book takes a look at the cultic attributes of this so-called Christian organization focused on developing character and promoting happy, stable families. A Matter of Basic Principles.
